Dismantling a Whole Kerrville House and Standing It Back Up

A full house demands far more from a crew than any single rental unit. You’ve got a garage stacked with ranch gear and patio sets, a metal shed cooking in the back lot, that long banister run the two-story river homes are known for, and the family heirlooms that have to arrive without a mark. Houses around here lean heavy, the sideboards, the gun cabinets, the big solid headboards, and the way we manage that bulk traces back to one thing: a Texas license, our own trucks, our own W-2 crews. The person who wraps your cabinet owns that cabinet’s safety to the new floor, and no contractor materializes at lunch to take the job over. Wade founded Browning in 2008, and either he or Rhonda is there for every move.

What This Service Includes

  • Room-by-room work: wrapping, lifting, the haul, and the unload
  • Mirrors, art, TVs and furniture quilted and then braced for travel
  • The big case goods and headboards stripped down and reassembled on arrival
  • Floor protection and frame guards set at both the old place and the new
  • Each carton and piece delivered to whatever room you flagged

How the Day Plays Out

First thing, the lead tours both houses and locks the load order. We begin in the back rooms and work toward the door, so what rolls off the truck roughly mirrors how you’ll move into the new house. On arrival the beds go up before anything, and the cartons scatter to their marked rooms rather than piling by the entry. Since the heat spikes by midday, an early start keeps things from sitting and baking in an open truck, and a building cell has us tarp the ramp against a quick downpour. Where a river or golf community needs gate clearance, the vendor pass is squared in advance.

What Sits Outside a Plain Move

Until packing is added, the cabinets are yours to box, and we stay off the water lines and anything hardwired. The washer and dryer, we’ll wheel back into their nook, though hooking them up again is properly a licensed tech’s call.

Pricing

A two-bedroom flats out at $840 to $1,450 and a three-bedroom at $1,450 to $2,450; a four-bedroom comes to $2,300 to $3,700 once we’ve walked it. Prefer a meter to a fixed number? The clock starts at $120/hr for two movers over a two-hour minimum, stepping up to $160/hr with a third on a bigger house.

How Kerrville families talk about the Browning crew

Dwight H.
Dwight H. Turtle Creek · office relocation
★★★★★

Shifted our office near Turtle Creek, and they scheduled it around our workday so business hardly skipped a beat. Each box labeled, each item logged, and Curt planned the route to steer clear of the school-run jam on Sidney Baker. Professional from that first call all the way to the final desk set in place.

Cliff W.
Cliff W. Kerrville South · into climate-controlled storage
★★★★★

Downsized from a house in Kerrville South and put most of it into Browning's storage while we figure out our next place. I'd seen what a summer in a plain metal shed does to furniture, so the climate-controlled units sold me. Crew loaded it tight and Rhonda walked me through the month-to-month terms. No pressure, just straight answers.

Marvin L.
Marvin L. Westwood · 2-bed townhome
★★★★★

Two-bed townhome over in Westwood with a pair of staircases, done quickly and done well. Friendly crew, and the flat figure was more than fair. Refreshing to work with a local family outfit that actually picks up when you call.

Local Moving in Kerrville & the Hill Country

Most of our calendar stays inside Kerr County, carrying households between Ingram, Center Point, Comfort and the neighborhoods up and down Sidney Baker. Because Browning crews do the lifting against a price Wade already wrote out, a backup on SH-27 or a held-up river-community gate has no way to push that figure higher.

Long-Distance Moves from Kerrville

Leaving the Hill Country behind? A single Browning crew packs the house, fills the trailer, and rides along with it clear to the new doorstep in San Antonio, Houston or Dallas. The figure is built off the actual highway miles, Rhonda commits a delivery day in writing, and neither one shifts after you sign.

Apartment & Condo Moving

Upstairs units along Junction Highway and the complexes near Schreiner University each hide their own catch, so we map the flights and the carry well ahead of the truck. Every stairway and tight turn is already counted in the flat figure, which keeps the building from ever turning into a surprise charge at signing.

Full Packing Service

Turn the kitchen over to us and the crew cartons it, marks each box by its room, and cushions anything breakable in supplies tough enough for the heat and the haul. Some folks want it packed the evening ahead of closing, others want every cabinet cleared on moving morning; whichever you pick, nothing leaves the door until it is checked against the inventory sheet.

Climate-Controlled Storage

Closing dates that miss by a few weeks leave your belongings needing somewhere cool and dry, not a tin shed roasting through a Kerrville summer. Browning runs its own climate-controlled units that hold furniture steady against the triple-digit heat, and the storage stretch rides on the very same flat quote, free of any second invoice or buried handling charge.

Piano & Gun-Safe Moving

For years Earl has eased uprights down tight ranch-house staircases and wrestled gun safes off back porches without leaving a scuff. He boards and straps the instrument or the safe, traces every pinch point before lifting, and that labor sits under the same written number as everything else, whether it heads onto the truck or into a cooled storage unit.

Service FAQs

What people usually want to know about this service

Is it just the living areas in the quote, or does the garage, shed and attic count too?
Everything counts. A whole-house move means the living spaces plus the packed garage, the metal shed out back, and whatever's up in the attic. Each item gets logged, and on the far end it lands exactly where you say, not abandoned by the front door.
My focus will be scattered on move day. Who's actually running the crew?
A single named lead, who you'll have met beforehand, owns the whole job, sets the load order, and decides where every piece lands at the unload. So you've got one person to take any question to, instead of a scattered group with nobody plainly in charge.
Our two-story river house has a tight turn at the top of the stairs. Can the big stuff clear it?
We handle those turns all the time in the two-story river and ranch homes. The crew measures the clearance, pads the banister and trim, and breaks down whatever won't make the bend, then puts it back together up top. On the rare piece that genuinely can't pass, we'll tell you before we lift, not after someone's stuck on the stairs.
What keeps a sudden Hill Country storm and the heat off my floors and furniture?
Protection gets laid over the flooring and the walking lane in each house before a thing is carried, and the instant a cell builds the crew tarps the ramp and threads the carry through breaks in the rain. It all rides quilted and wrapped, so no finish or upholstery ever meets the rain or the humidity.
