Browning Storage

One Flat Rate in Writing — Nothing New on Move Day

What turns a Hill Country move into a headache is almost always one thing: a crew that mishandles your furniture. Tell us the day that suits you and our Kerrville team pulls up inside that window, pads and wraps every piece, and gets you settled in the new place while the rest of your day stays your own.

The process

First message to last box carried in, the whole thing is three steps

1

Give us the basics of your move

Fill in the short form, or ring the Kerrville office on Sidney Baker and a real person picks up. To begin we need just three things: both ZIP codes, your moving date, and the size of your home. It costs nothing, there is nothing to sign, and nobody chases you with sales calls afterward.

2

A written rate hits your inbox and holds for the entire job

You hold a firm written figure within the hour, with no hourly clock and no surprise line items tacked on afterward. What we set down in writing is exactly what holds on move day, with nothing inching up behind the scenes. If a Riverhill HOA board or a property manager needs a Certificate of Insurance, we send one over the same day.

3

The moment our crew pulls up, hand it all over and relax

Our movers roll up in Browning shirts on a truck loaded with pads, dollies, floor runners, and tools, and each one cleared a background check and a drug screen before working a single job. The packing, the load-out, the drive, the carry-in, and putting every room back together all fall to us. The rest of your week stays yours.

Our services

What kind of move have you got coming up?

Tell us about the job and our crew takes it from there. From a one-room river cabin to a five-bedroom ranch house, from a short hop across Tivy to a haul clear across the country — Browning Storage brings the trucks, the rigging, and the road miles to handle any the Texas Hill Country and Kerr County job.

Local Moving in Kerrville & the Hill Country

Most of our calendar stays inside Kerr County, carrying households between Ingram, Center Point, Comfort and the neighborhoods up and down Sidney Baker. Because Browning crews do the lifting against a price Wade already wrote out, a backup on SH-27 or a held-up river-community gate has no way to push that figure higher.

Long-Distance Moves from Kerrville

Leaving the Hill Country behind? A single Browning crew packs the house, fills the trailer, and rides along with it clear to the new doorstep in San Antonio, Houston or Dallas. The figure is built off the actual highway miles, Rhonda commits a delivery day in writing, and neither one shifts after you sign.

Residential & Ranch-House Moving

Whether it is a small in-town cottage or a rambling four-bedroom ranch place out toward Harper, our movers walk the home room by room, pad each piece, and reassemble every bed and table once it lands. Wade or a crew chief stays close to the job, and your figure is settled long before the first box clears the porch.

Apartment & Condo Moving

Upstairs units along Junction Highway and the complexes near Schreiner University each hide their own catch, so we map the flights and the carry well ahead of the truck. Every stairway and tight turn is already counted in the flat figure, which keeps the building from ever turning into a surprise charge at signing.

Full Packing Service

Turn the kitchen over to us and the crew cartons it, marks each box by its room, and cushions anything breakable in supplies tough enough for the heat and the haul. Some folks want it packed the evening ahead of closing, others want every cabinet cleared on moving morning; whichever you pick, nothing leaves the door until it is checked against the inventory sheet.

Climate-Controlled Storage

Closing dates that miss by a few weeks leave your belongings needing somewhere cool and dry, not a tin shed roasting through a Kerrville summer. Browning runs its own climate-controlled units that hold furniture steady against the triple-digit heat, and the storage stretch rides on the very same flat quote, free of any second invoice or buried handling charge.

Piano & Gun-Safe Moving

For years Earl has eased uprights down tight ranch-house staircases and wrestled gun safes off back porches without leaving a scuff. He boards and straps the instrument or the safe, traces every pinch point before lifting, and that labor sits under the same written number as everything else, whether it heads onto the truck or into a cooled storage unit.

Loading & Unloading Help

Got a rental truck or a pod of your own and only need strong backs that know the trade? A W-2 Browning crew packs it so tight nothing budges over the run down I-10, or pulls it apart and places each piece exactly where you point. Same trained movers, one flat hourly figure, and not a dime added for a heavy dresser or a long walk to the curb.

Senior Moving & Downsizing

Leaving a ranch house you have held for decades, or settling into a smaller patio home at Comanche Trace, calls for a slower kind of day, and Boone runs it at that pace. His crew helps decide what goes and what stays, squares away the gate clearance plus any HOA forms for you, and Rhonda keeps a single steady voice on the line from your first call to the last box set down.

Wade Browning — 18 years moving Kerrville families and storing their things

“I got tired of watching Kerrville neighbors get a cheap phone quote and a fat bill on move day, and of their things cooking in un-cooled storage”

Grew up on a small place outside Ingram and hauled hay and furniture around Kerr County in high school. Even now Wade still shows up in person on most jobs, which keeps the rate square and means the movers at your door are crew we trained ourselves.

Linda K. Ingram · 3-bed ranch house
★★★★☆

Decent job clearing our place near Ingram, and Wade's written figure held right to the penny. My one knock: the crew arrived toward the tail end of the morning window we'd set, so the start felt a bit hurried. Once they got moving, though, they were careful on those ranch-house stairs and nothing ended up dinged.

Wayne T. Center Point · 2-bed house
★★★★★

Two-bed house in Center Point, handled cleanly and wrapped up early in the day. Turns out Wade runs cattle just up the road from us, so it felt like calling on a neighbor. The figure Rhonda gave me by phone matched my invoice down to the cent, which almost never happens when you hire movers.

Small studio over in Comfort, and these folks had it loaded and unloaded before the worst of the afternoon heat rolled in. Friendly crew, fair flat figure, zero nonsense. I'd ring Browning again in a heartbeat.

Dale R. Fredericksburg · 4-bed house
★★★★★

Four bedrooms in Fredericksburg plus a garage stuffed with tools, so I braced for a long, ugly day. The crew arrived at 7 on the nose, broke down the bed frames and our heavy farmhouse table, and had it all loaded by midday. They put every piece back together at the new house, and even running behind the clock, Wade's written number held steady. Seriously impressed.

Brenda S. Boerne · 1-bed apartment
★★★★★

Moved my one-bedroom over in Boerne and the entire day was painless. They padded the door frames coming down the stairs and didn't ding a wall. Rhonda had the quote to me the same afternoon I called, and that is exactly what I ended up paying.

Roy M. Bandera · office relocation
★★★★★

Relocated our little office toward Bandera on a Saturday so business wouldn't skip a beat. The crew shrink-wrapped each desk, tagged every carton to its room, and got us back at our keyboards by Monday. Curt routed the trucks to stay ahead of traffic in both directions. About as smooth as it gets.

Donna M. Hunt · senior downsize
★★★★★

Twenty-six years in our home up the river at Hunt, and downsizing had me dreading the whole ordeal. Boone's crew stayed easygoing all day long, helped me split out what was leaving from what the kids were keeping, and let me take my time. They sorted the gate paperwork on top of it. I truly cannot praise them enough.

Gary S. Harper · 2-bed townhome
★★★★★

Townhome move out past Harper, long gravel drive and all, done fast and done clean. Fair flat price, polite crew who never griped about the haul to the truck. Real easy folks to deal with.

FAQs

Honest numbers right up front, no booking needed to see them

Are the trucks and crews actually yours?
Yes — Browning Storage is a licensed, fully insured Hill Country mover out of Kerrville, TX, registered with the TxDMV intrastate authority. The trucks carry our name, our W-2 movers draw their paycheck from us, and we run under live and authority.
Roughly, what does a local Kerrville move cost?
On local jobs a two-mover crew runs $120/hour, and the truck, the pads, and every dolly and strap we bring are already in that rate. Figure 2–4 hours for a 1–2 bedroom place and 4–6 hours for a typical three-bedroom ranch house. Want one fixed number instead? Once Wade walks the rooms or we do it by video, we put the flat rate in writing.
How soon should I pin down my date?
Weekends fill first across Kerr County, so aim to hold a Saturday slot 2–3 weeks out. Pick a midweek day, or steer clear of the spring move-in wave, and a couple days' notice usually does it. When a crew is open on a quieter date, even a short-notice or same-week booking drops right in.
Is there a job your crew won't take?
We handle local work all over the Texas Hill Country and Kerr County, runs down to San Antonio and out to Austin, and long-distance hauls from Kerrville to any state in the country. The odd, heavy pieces are no trouble either — upright and baby grand pianos, gun safes, ranch heirlooms. And we do plenty beyond carrying boxes: full packing, climate-controlled storage between closings, and patient downsizing help for retirees.
Do you carry insurance?
We do. $1M in cargo liability stands behind every job we run. Full-value protection is yours to add on, generally 1–3% of the amount you declare. Our crews are also covered by our bond, general liability, and workers’ comp. Any Comanche Trace board or river-community HOA that needs a Certificate of Insurance gets one back the same day.
Do I have to be there the whole job?
Having you on hand at both ends is ideal, but if the day pulls you away, just have someone you trust stand in for you. There or not, the crew lists every item before it loads and checks that same list off at delivery.
Plans changed — any fee to move or drop the date?
Give us 48 hours notice on a cancellation and you owe nothing. Moving to a different date is free too, as long as a crew is open that day. Since Saturdays book fast around here, calling early gives us the best shot at fitting you in.
How can I pay you?
Use whatever is easiest for you: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, debit, certified check, or cash. Booking takes no deposit. The balance comes due at delivery and not a minute sooner, after you have looked the load over and signed off.
A piece gets scuffed in transit — then what?
Released-value coverage at $0.60/lb rides along free on every job. Spot a problem? Flag it for the crew lead before the truck pulls out, and it goes onto the inventory that same day, with most claims settled inside the nine-month window we allow. Hauling something you'd hate to lose? Full-value protection runs 1–3% of what you declare and adds real cushion.
