The Boxes Are Easy; It’s the Building That Eats Your Day
What trips up an apartment or condo move is hardly ever the cartons, it’s the property. There’s the river-view complex along the Sidney Baker corridor that allows one stairwell and posts a hard quiet hour. There’s the managed building near downtown Kerrville where no one touches a door until your certificate of insurance has been filed. There’s the gated 55-plus community out past Comanche Trace, its shared lane far too tight to turn a box truck into. Every one of those is our headache to solve, not yours, because our own people carry your things, and no call center is off scrounging up a stranger to fill in.
Squared Away Before Move Day
- A certificate of insurance written up for the leasing office anytime the building wants one
- The loading zone, and any elevator or stairwell window, locked with management ahead of arrival
- More movers and extra dollies for a stair haul or a no-elevator unit
- Padding run through hallways, stair landings, and every pinch in between
- Oversized furniture broken down so it slides through a tight doorway
How We Clear the Building Ahead of Time
This is the sequence we work to get the property squared well before the day:
- Send over the building’s insurance requirements plus a name in management
- We draft the certificate word-for-word to the building’s spec and email leasing directly
- We pin down the loading window and reserve any elevator or stairwell for your slot
- The load gets timed to that window, so you never pay for the crew standing idle
- Day-of, the crew shields the lobby, entry and stairwell, and only then does the first piece move
Inside the Unit
On site, the crew guards the route, pads the lobby, entry and stairwell, and rebuilds beds and furniture the moment the last item is down. The Hill Country adds a twist: a triple-digit afternoon means keeping dollies moving and water on hand, and a storm day means tarping the doorway so a fast downpour can’t reach a carton parked at the threshold.
A Couple of Notes
A window isn’t ours to promise until the building actually grants it, and any after-hours fee or move-in deposit the building levies lands on you. Anything open and unsealed won’t make the manifest, so seal it yourself or have us pack it, since the wrapping adds nothing to your bill.
Pricing
Flat, a studio runs $360 to $540 and a one-bedroom $540 to $840. Stairs push the meter, so a unit a few flights up can come out cheaper on the $120/hr two-mover rate over a two-hour minimum; we work it both ways and hand you the smaller number.
